Information Systems for police bodies
A number of projects have been implemented by the PPU in this area due to the need to establish nation-wide registries for the use of all police bodies in BiH and/or registries at entity level but connected in order to grant the exchange of information.
Exchange service
The principle of cooperation between the 15 existing police bodies in BiH is stated in national laws and bylaws as an essential condition for fighting effectively all kinds of crime. Cooperation between police bodies can be endorsed in different ways and the exchange of data and information in a modern, electronic way is a prerequisite to the objective of overcoming institutional fragmentation.
The establishment of a central technical access point will facilitate the exchange of data and information, electronically managing the queries and addressing them to the police body owner of data or information and directing eventually the answers.
EU CARDS PPU contributed in identifying the concept and criteria for the proper establishment of the system.
The role of the data exchange server is to enable safe transactions between requesting users and databases that are owned by the relevant institutions.
The final goal is to have an integrated information system for all police bodies and prosecutors in BiH. There should be a single portal through which all data and applications that manipulate them should be accessible. All user access would be moderated via this portal. Single sign-on should provide each user access to everything needed for her/his police work.
Information Systems within Federal Police Administration and Cantons
The concept of exchange service, as described in previous paragraphs, requires that police bodies create and maintain electronic registries organizing their web-services for the exchange of data.
Centralized Information System is established for Federal Police Administration and Cantonal police bodies; Police bodies populate and update the system, have real time information, search established registries, accessing the system through a single portal.
